Westend Owl Sculpture

In May, I made a wire owl sculpture to celebrate Westend Primary 50th birthday. The Horsforth school was opened in 1968 and they wanted to have a sculpture inspired by the owl on their school logo. I had previously done a wire bird activity for some of the teachers at the school in November of last year so I felt very happy to help. I had four weeks to make it and it was set in place ready for the event on Friday 25th May. I have since been to the school and the owl has turned a beautiful rusty orange, just like we wanted it to do. I am now working of another version for the Night Owl after school facility on the same site. It was good for the children to see me working on a sculpture that means something directly linked to them.
