Leeds University and Wire Birds

I spent a couple of hours with some Project Managers from Leeds University making wire birds. The participants seemed a little unsure at first as they couldn’t see what making wire birds had to do with their job, but as I spoke about the process of art making and the strategies used to make artwork, a common language developed. They could see a similarity between the two processes although the outcomes were worlds apart. Making art is an emotional activity, and before long people engage is soulful communications. It was a successful activity with everyone taking a bird home at the end of the two hours and I also had the reasons for making art ratified in my own mind. People need to understand what it is to fully appreciate it in their lives. If you never start, you never know.
