Constructive Futures Networking Event
In September I attended the Constructive Futures Networking event in Leeds. Natalie Sarabia-Johnson - who is a board member at Pennys Community Arts is also a board member and founder of Constructive Futures CIC.
The event was held in a nice location in Leeds where breakfast was provided. I went along to support Natalie but when I went I was blow away by the amazing young people who attended. These were graduates and apprentices who want to advance their career in the construction industry.
There was at least 30 individuals from diverse backgrounds, all willing to connect and learn from industry mentors. It was inspirational. I just felt such a strong sense of pride for them all.
The theme was sustainability in construction, and there were many talks from industry professionals. As I was listening I thought about what an incredible responsibility it was for our young professionals to be at the forefront of making sure what we build is in harmony with our environment.
Im not going to lie, I did hide in the kitchen when they were taking a group photo at the end of the session, but there I met a young graduate who was interested in art club and the work I do. She had recently got her architecture degree but said she had always loved to draw. She showed me her work and it reminded me of Willam Blakes illustrations.
I came away feeling full of positive energy and I gave Natalie a big hug and said what an incredible thing they were doing at Contructive Futures.
This is the only photo Im happy to share - I don’t like photos.
