The Hepworth

It’s been about 25 years since I last had a job interview. My last one was when I was 21 interviewing for a job in a small sign company as a sign designer. But I recently I applied to be on the freelance artist educators team at The Hepworth in Wakefield.

I’ve started to realise that the effort it takes to get something or somewhere is the real measure of success, and not the outcome. I work really hard at what I do and I am accepting my effort as the true measure of my progress. I have been fooled by the notion that my outcomes stand alone as evidence of hard work… they don’t, the visible outcome is a byproduct of effort. I have spent loads of time on things that are not tangible at all and only have value to my own understanding.

Saying that, at the point of interview, I was able to draw on the lessons of what effort and time has shown me and was invited to join the team. So I will be occasionally working in The Hepworth working with the community in Wakefield.
