Art Club for Teachers

We have just completed a twelve-week art club for local teachers, in association with the charities Walk of Art in Horsforth and Skippko Leeds

Every Monday night we sat in the Great Minster House in Horsforth, supplied by Skippko. It was very cold indeed. From 7:30 – 9:30 we discussed the meaning of the elements of art and how we use them to make art. We also discussed the principles of art and how we use them to communicate the elements better. The main purpose of this work was to help teachers understand art so they could teach it better in the classroom. The best part of this was that the teachers themselves were inspired to make their own art and it helped build confidence in the process. All donations were given to cover the materials and Walk of Art for future activities. The Horsforth Walk of Art is due to happen again in July 2018 and we have discussed the teachers art club contributing to a sculpture to the event.

We have plans to continue our group early in 2018.
