Sculpture Club 2018

We have just finished this years Sculpture Club with the Aspire School Partnership. This year we chose to focus on Henry Moore. He is an important sculptor who was the first British sculptor to reach International acclaim, he is also local as he was born in Castleford in Leeds. His artistic presence was solidified after the second world war where his drawings captured the Blitz in London.

We learnt about his life and we also tried to make his sculptures. We learn about how materials behave and we tried to draw like Henry Moore. Our final project was based on his Three Standing Figures sculpture. Each group made a figure to be displayed in school, when the figures are arranged together they make a circle to represent the school partnership.

We then went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to study the Henry Moore Sculptures there.
